Io Saturnalia!

Friday, December 25th, 2009

I like this quote so much I’m going to break my vow of not acknowledging Christmas just to post it:

…every religion attaches some godly event to the solstice season. It’s why you’ll get a day off on Christmas, which means it was good for something. So just pause, bow your head, and think about Jesus. And reject him.

Happy Saturnalia everybody

“Catholic church punishes women for supporting female priests”

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

The headline of this post (Catholic church punishes women for supporting female priests) is from a blog posted by a person who was shocked, SHOCKED! that the Catholic Church could dole out such harsh punishment.

Really? Which was more shocking, that the Catholic Church threw out someone who disagreed with it, or that it’s being misogynist?

This reminds me of a group that wants the Catholic Church to promote the Virgin Mary to goddess and make her a member of the holy trinity. I don’t know why a person would look to Catholicism to value women when the institution doesn’t seem to even regard them as people.
